We are delighted to introduce our newly opened Therapy Centre, which features three therapy rooms and a dedicated children’s therapy room on the ground floor, as well as a further therapy room and children’s therapy space upstairs. The centre also includes a training hub, where Kalmer Counselling will deliver professional training sessions for educators, parents and mental health practitioners.

The centre was officially opened by Mayor Jay Potts, Mayoress Audrey Huntley and Council Leader Tracey Dixon, alongside business leaders, local teachers, charities, and members of the Kalmer Counselling team who gathered to celebrate the occasion.

With 1 in 4 people in England experiencing a mental health problem each year and 1 in 5 children and young people aged 8 to 25 likely to face similar challenges, the new Kalmer Counselling centre is a welcome and much-needed addition to South Tyneside.

As part of our launch, we introduced our hub with a special ‘High Tea for Headteachers’ event. Local headteachers and senior leaders were invited to attend a session on ‘The Hidden Weight of Stress in Education’, delivered by Kalmer Counselling Director, Victoria Beattie. Guests enjoyed afternoon tea while learning about the growing impact of stress and burnout within the education sector.
